Hi all.
I’m ife, the creator of the grey. For the longest, the idea for this podcast has been a draft in my phone’s Notes app. Understanding the world was always an interesting concept to me, but I never knew where or how to begin. Then, I started journaling, and while it has helped me grasp different concepts, it simply was just not enough. I wanted to understand what others were going through and why they made the choices they did. So I became an ear to people – to hear their problems, to help them through their problems, and hopefully overcome my own in doing so. This still did not answer the basic questions in life; why do people behave the way we do? why do our cultures dictate the way we live? What impact does our childhood have on our upbringing? Is anything every truly concrete? Aren’t there exceptions? So I’ve finally decided to make this podcast, to get scopes from different people from different backgrounds to help make sense of this.
So, why ‘the grey’?
Simply put, it’s because we live in a world with a ton of black and white tropes, and I'd like to question the authenticity. As a Nigerian-American, it is only fair to deconstruct traditional, religious, and societal influences on concepts that are a part of our everyday lives. But at this point I’m asking more questions that giving answers, so listen with me as we try to break them down. Please note, this podcast is meant to be a culmination of our stories, it would be counterintuitive if I didn’t ask for your input. So please feel encouraged to drop a comment, a question, or a story by clicking the button below.
For all my English professors, I am well aware that gray is spelled with an a, but let me be a lil unique okay?? 😊
